Erect the stations along your garden path or hang them indoors. The
Stations of the Cross have a deep rooted history in the Church. Many
believe that various forms of the Stations of the Cross date back to the
very beginning of the Church. It has been said by pious tradition that
the devotion was said in its early form by our Blessed Mother while she
lived and was protected by the beloved Apostle John. Many great saints
have had a particular devotion to the Stations of the Cross. This
devotion is richly blessed and supported by the Church. Under certain
conditions plenary indulgences are attached to the devotion.
Our traditional Stations of the Cross shrines are for indoors or
outdoors. You can purchase an individual station as a single shrine for
a small yard or garden or purchase an entire set of fourteen stations to
erect on a larger property, or for a church, church yard or retreat
location. You can ask us for ideas about erecting the stations in or
around your home; it will add an elegant beauty to your house. We have
two sizes - 21" x 11" and 30" x 11" - to fit perfectly into your setting.
The shrines consist of our eloquently carved western red cedar housing.
The carving and assembly is done in our Bloomfield, Indiana shop studio.
The station art is made of durable ceramic. We have two styles to choose
from. The large stations are made with two ceramic tiles and have a
unique gothic roof line. The High Fired Ceramic that we use is
extremely durable in bright light and sunshine. The process used for
making the ceramic is unique and was developed in England. The colors
are imbedded in the ceramic and are made of minerals so they cannot fade
and they are meant to last for a very long time. With care and proper
placement, the stations can last for many years in the outdoors.
Designed to look richly traditional, the ceramic artwork image was
created from our original Italian antique station paintings. If
purchasing a single station as an individual shrine, you can purchase
the shrine without the inscription and station number. On our order
page we offer the single station shown which is Jesus is taken down from
the cross, which can be used as a Pieta shrine. You can call us for a
special order of any of the stations as a single stand alone shrine.
We include a complete guide on the history of the devotion and how to
gain the indulgences attached to the devotion. Our guide book also has
the devotional prayers written for the Stations of the Cross composed by
Saint Alphonsus Liguori. We also include information on the care and
maintenance of the stations with details on ways to erect them.
So join the many saints who deeply loved this devotion to the way of the
cross, an important prayer any time of the year, not just for Lent. It
is a great reminder of the passion of our Lord.
